This type of challenge-response test is called a "CAPTCHA".
The term CAPTCHA (for Completely Automated Public
Turing Test To Tell Computers and Humans Apart) was coined in 2000 by Luis von
Ahn, Manuel Blum, Nicholas Hopper and John Langford of Carnegie Mellon
University.
This test allows our website to tell if you are human or a bot. Typically, only humans can decipher CAPTCHA codes. This prevents automated software from degrading the quality of service of our website.
Thank you for your help in keeping our website safe.
